About Verdant
What is Verdant Consultancy and what makes you different?
Verdant is a Geneva-based education and admissions consultancy led by an IB examiner, workshop leader, and British Council Certified Counsellor. We combine school-side leadership experience with university admissions insight to help students, families, and schools design pathways that fit the learner: academically, personally, and ethically.
What is an educational consultant?
An educational consultant supports families, schools, and partners with strategy, planning, and personalised guidance. At Verdant, we advise families on course selection and applications, help schools refine guidance programmes, and collaborate with partners on enrichment and admissions initiatives, for example running workshops or designing mentorship frameworks.
Applications and results
What is your track record with student placements?
Our students have secured offers at Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial, ESADE, Bocconi, Parsons, and more, alongside scholarships and specialist tracks like medicine and architecture. Results reflect preparation and fit, not rankings alone.
Can you help me choose the right university and course?
Yes. We map strengths and interests to entry routes in the UK, EU, US, and beyond. Each student leaves with a balanced list, timeline, and milestones for statements, portfolios, and interviews.
Do you only work with IB and IGCSE students?
We specialise in IB and IGCSE, but also support A-levels, Matura, French Bac, Swiss maturité, AP/US curricula, and mixed transcripts. We translate grades and predicteds so admissions teams see a coherent academic story.
How do you support essays, portfolios, and interviews?
We mentor through discovery interviews, reading briefs, and feedback rounds. Students refine authentic voice and evidence; creatives receive portfolio critiques and project briefs.
Will working with Verdant improve my chances?
No consultancy can guarantee outcomes. We strengthen applications by aligning them to the student’s strengths, ensuring timing, clarity, and integrity.
Fees and independence
Is there a placement fee?
No. Verdant does not receive placement commissions from institutions, and we operate on a transparent fee-for-service model. Our loyalty is to the student and family, and our practice is grounded in integrity and ethics. Packages and fees are shared after an initial consultation, once we understand your child’s needs and the level of support required.
What is the difference between an agent and a consultant?
Agents are typically tied to specific institutions and receive placement fees, which can limit their recommendations. Independent consultants, like Verdant, work for the family; our advice is impartial and focused on the student’s long-term interests, not school quotas.
Working with families
How involved are parents in the process?
Parents are kept informed at milestones through reports and meetings while the student retains ownership of the process. This balance keeps communication open without displacing the young person’s voice.
Do you support wellbeing during high-stakes applications?
Yes. Alongside structured time and routines, we offer wellbeing programmes informed by research and guidance from the IB, UNESCO, and WHO, so academic goals are never pursued at the expense of health.
Standards, safeguarding and privacy
What accreditations and professional standards do you hold?
We are a British Council Certified Counsellor, an IB examiner and workshop leader, and a member of IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association). Our work aligns with professional codes of conduct and safeguarding standards in international education.
How do you ensure safeguarding when working with young people?
Safeguarding is central to our practice. All communication, record-keeping, and collaboration follow international safety standards, and all staff and associates are vetted.
How do you balance discretion with authentic applications?
We uphold confidentiality at all times while ensuring authenticity. Every essay and interview reflects the student’s real experiences and aspirations, not a manufactured profile.
Are you a British Council Certified Counsellor?
Yes. Verdant is a British Council Certified Counsellor and participates in ongoing professional development and quality assurance linked to this accreditation.
How do you handle data and privacy?
We handle personal data in line with GDPR and Swiss data protection law. We collect only what is necessary, store it securely, limit retention, and respect your rights of access, correction, and deletion. Full details are outlined in our Legal & Privacy Notice.
No questions match that. Ask us directly and we’ll answer personally.
Still have a question?
A good education decision is not just about access. It is about fit, readiness and growth.
If your family is facing a school move, university decision or student development concern, Verdant can help you think clearly and act deliberately.
